660 year old wine cellar

Das historische Steingewölbe aus dem 14. Jhdt., dessen riesige Konglomerat-Quader vom historischen Steinbruch gegenüber im Mönchsberg stammen, hat eine bewegte Geschichte: über 600 Jahre lang diente es als Lager. Bis zur Einleitung von Gas war es ein Kohlekeller, in den Anfangsjahren des 20 Jhdts. barg es Gemüse, Obst und ein Weinfass, und in den 70er Jahren wandelte es sich mit dem "Mexicano-Keller" zu einer legendären Jazz-Institution.


Cellar Dining


Today around 1,500 bottles of wine are stored behind a glass pane in front of a psephite wall. Joining the long table for 12, the wine bar and the delightful STILLSEGLER tableware, the wine provides a stunning backdrop for "La Tavolata". 


The large cellar offers space for 40 guests to celebrate a special birthday, a private company event or conference, anniversaries, (Christmas) holidays or any other celebration. It couldn't get more stylish than this.

We welcome you with an aperitif and ham specialities cut for you using our old Berkel BJ 1947 slicer. Then take a seat at the long wooden table where we have prepared the finest appetisers from our food manufactory:



home-marinated trout, beef or veal tartar, goose liver mousse in the glass, artichokes with lemon herb oil, pesto, herbal salt, etc.

The main course is a roast served up on the table in copper pans and platters, with all the trimmings in bowls and dishes. To begin with we'll lay it all out, but then you are invited to help yourselves. Within moments, everyone is joyfully tucking in! We round it all off with Nußschmarrn (nuts & pancakes), baked Topfentascherln (curd pastries) or Salzburg Nockerl (sweet souffle).
