You can find Mozart & friends quite easily without us. But where are the undiscovered trendy spots that are a bit more out of sight? The tips we have put together for you here will spur you on to explore the real Salzburg, away from all the clichés. The other side of the Mozartkugel, so to speak. Our staff are real lifestyle guides and will gladly show you the latest city hotspots. You'll also find the latter in our GÄNSEHAUT MAGAZINE. All our suggestions are easily accessible by bike or on foot. You won't need a car while you're with us; it will be parked safely in the Mönchsberg car park opposite.
Twelve works by internationally acclaimed contemporary artists have turned the old town into a veritable "Garden of Art". Marina Abramovic, Anselm Kiefer, Markus Lüpertz, Mario Merz, James Turell, Jaume Plensa, Tony Cragg, Stefan Balkenhol, Brigitte Kowanz, Christian Boltanski, Manfred Wakolbinger and Erwin Wurm give us the opportunity to discover the city from a different perspective.
Since 2014 there has been an Open Air Gallery erected on the Krauthügel from Whitsun to the end of September, and the Kollegienkirche (Collegiate Church) will also be used. "Walk of Modern Art" tours are offered in German, English and Italian.
You're moments away from a shopping spree: the Getreidegasse lies right outside the door, but you'll also find some fascinating shops and stores off the beaten track.
Shopping tips for the old town are listed here.
Our in-house shops are also silently beguiling: it's virtually impossible to leave Stillsegler and the Zotter Choco Shop Theatre empty-handed.
Just ask at Reception.
And off you go. Our city bikes are at your disposal for excursions, for example kitted out with the stylish picnic bag from our Stillsegler shop. Hop on your bike and go your own way! The bike hire service is included in your room price; we ask only for a donation to put towards global reforestation projects.
